First SAP BW on HANA Certification for PBS Software

First certification for SAP BW on HANA

The PBS Software's nearline storage solution CBW NLS IQ for SAP Business Warehouse applications has now been certified as first solution for SAP NetWeaver BW on HANA 7.3. The PBS solution has already been using the column-based analytics server Sybase IQ for many years. As a pioneer, PBS has introduced it in SAP environments for the first time. In the meantime, it belongs to the SAP's database portfolio. It was only logical that PBS Software GmbH as a long-standing SAP partner was the first certification candidate for SAP BW on HANA.

PBS recommends a consistent Information Lifecycle Management with a regular archiving to cope with large data volumes in SAP systems. This will increase in turn the number of archived data. To use it for flexible analysis, external nearline databases are used in SAP NetWeaver BW to save archive data. The external databases are connected via an SAP-specific nearline storage interface. This approach is especially appropriate in a HANA environment since the costs for the HANA main memory are higher compared to traditional storage systems.

In addition to nearline storage solutions for SAP BW, PBS also provides a nearline solution for SAP ERP, PBS Nearline Analytic Infrastructure (NAI), that was awarded the IT innovation prize by the Initiative Mittelstand. Both PBS solutions ensure a fast processing of very large archive data stocks, and thus enable the conversion of a comprehensive ILM concept on a technological basis. The huge data compression also saves memory space. Numerous customers already have these solutions successfully in operation.
