Table Replication from Database and Archive

As already announced during this year's PBS Information Day, there will be a new feature, the Data Replication Service (DRS) of the PBS Nearline Analytic Infrastructure (NAI) that can be used to replicate SAP tables that are dependent on one another from the database and archive. The replication is administered. The data can be updated using a time stamp via a delta method. Here, a synchronization prevents any duplicates. They are identified via a duplication verification and then deleted.

The first implementation of the new function is planned at a PBS customer who wants to remove a high-performance transfer log (4000 entries per hour) from the primary database to reduce the residence time from 90 days to 5 days. The logs are then deleted after some delay later from PBS NAI. Furthermore, the PBS replication procedure is suitable for SAP tables without connection to the SAP data archiving. In this context, for example the tables of the payment run programs (DAYPH and DAPYP) could be mentioned. The data that is contained in the primary database can be deleted shortly by the replication in the nearline storage. The PBS query tool and a programming API still enable a complete access to the removed data.

The new function will be available during the coming year. We will be pleased to answer any inquiries that you have in advance.
