Accelerated and simplified SAP Profitability Analysis

The SAP profitability analysis CO-PA provides users with central reports for the revenue and cost situation of their company based on products, markets, customers or divisions. Different planning scenarios can be calculated including the connection of SAP BI and the profit center accounting. CO-PA is a comprehensive and flexible reporting tool.

Due to highly granular characteristic values the module CO-PA can have very extensive datasets. The SAP data archiving for CO-PA line items is often used to reduce the operative ERP database. Archive data has to be taken into account in the reporting. This is carried out by sequential reading of archive files with the transaction KE30 in the SAP standard that can result in extremely long report runtimes.

The PBS archive add on CCOPA is a solution for an optimized archive data access. Due to archive index structures it enables access to archived CO-PA line items via the characteristics. It also contains the integration of dependent documents and enables the navigation to documents of other SAP modules such as accounting, sales or production, provided that the corresponding PBS archive add ons are also used in these modules.

Performance Optimization by using column-based Technology

In particular for very large data volumes, an efficient and fast access is extremely important for the company's success. However, for very large COPA archive data volumes, long report runtimes cannot be avoided with the "classical" ADK technology. Therefore, PBS has developed the product Nearline Analytic Infrastructure (NAI) on the basis of column-based technology. Using NAI together with the PBS archive add on CCOPA solves the runtime problem. When you use the column-based technology, all fields of archived COPA line item data can be indexed. As a result, you can access data directly and extremely fast. For large archive data volumes, the time-consuming access via the object table CE4XXXX with the ADK method can be completely avoided using NAI. Reports can be executed online instead of in the background using NAI. A drilldown from reports to the respective line items can be carried out very fast. This means for the SAP profitability analysis users that work is made much easier and time is saved. Another advantage is the high compression of PBS archive indices in the NAI database. Saving of disk space provides significant cost reduction.
