  ###SALUTATION_EN###

Today, we would like to share our latest developments with you by sending you our new newsletter in a completely new layout. And, as one might expect in a year in which the economy is in a crisis, this edition is devoted solely to saving money.

It was John F. Kennedy who already pointed to the fact that the term crisis consists of two different characters in Chinese. The first character means danger, the second opportunity. So please make use of this opportunity to save with the help of PBS Software and overcome the steep cliffs of the crisis by using the right technology.

We will be filling you in on all of the details in the articles that follow. Among other things, we will be revealing possibilities that have never existed before. Please take a look at what we have to offer.

With sincere Christmas greetings from Bensheim,

Michalina Malinowski

Save money with column-based technology

PBS NAI reduces the need for storage space and shortens access times

In comparison to conventional relational databases, column-based database technology offers two important advantages: high data compression (of up to more than 90%) and much faster access with database queries that involve huge volumes of data.

Table access under control

With the Data Browser, you can view SAP database tables to obtain more information on their content or structure. In addition to displaying these, the transaction SE16 can also be used to change the contents of database tables or views. This is a popular way to analyze business processes or assist with external audits.

Keep old data available

Operational data stored in productive ERP systems forms the basis for corporate activities and must often be stored for relatively long periods of time. In Germany, for instance, the regulations on digital financial documents (GDPdU) call for financial statements and accounting documents to be stored for ten years. Therefore, the challenge of modern data management lies in storing information in a safe and cost effective manner, but also being able to access it very easily if necessary.

If, for instance, legacy systems are left behind as a result of restructuring measures and these contain data for which an obligation to disclose information exists, the question of how historical data is to be accessed in the future arises. Providing the appropriate 'historical' hardware, software, and personnel resources can be very expensive.
