  ###SALUTATION_EN###

This year’s particularly exciting Information Day is now behind us. We would like to very much thank all presenters and participants! The slides from the presentations are meanwhile linked to the respective titles of the agenda and are available as PDF files. You can also find a few photos from the event there. Today, we would additionally like to provide you with some key takeaways from the most important topics that were touched upon during the Information Day.

On June 28, 2016 PBS Software will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. On behalf of the Executive Management Board, I would like to cordially invite you to the Information Day that will once again take place at the Dorint Hotel, Mannheim as well as to the subsequent evening event about which we are not yet going to reveal any secrets! To celebrate the occasion, there will be no participant fee. You will receive your personal invitation in due course via mail.

But first of all, let me wish you an interesting read and a wonderful summer!

With best regards from Bensheim

Information Lifecycle Management is alive!

Review of the PBS Information Day

Prof. Dr. Detlev Steinbinder’s keynote during this year’s particularly exciting PBS Information Day compared the evolution of the former R/4 box van to become a sport utility vehicle, to the evolution of PBS Software products to meet modern standards. In a nutshell: ILM is alive and has a promising future thanks to being in a good position to keep the innovation costs under control!

Integration of External Data

and High Speed Analysis directly in SAP ERP

The analysis of data from different sources directly in the ERP system is an important topic, particularly as ERP by default is generally too slow for the analysis of mass data and negatively impacts the ERP database. PBS addresses this problem with the Data Replication Services from the Nearline Analytic Infrastructure that can be used to transfer database and archive data into the analytical NAI database where it can be evaluated extremely fast.

Well-approved Business Warehouse

Recommended PBS Best Practice

Up until now, nearline storage solutions have been used more often in SAP NetWeaver BW systems than in ERP. The wealth of experience that is reflected in one new, user-friendly tool after another and new features such as the Data Aging Process is correspondingly large. Stefan Weickum presented the PBS Best Practices. He showed the complete spectrum of PBS nearline solutions for BW, including the new add-ons for SAP NLS that support several analytical databases.

Archiving in Storage or Cloud

using PBS ContentLink

Instead of transferring SAP data into conventional storage systems of established vendors using the archive server PBS ContentLink as in the past, this also works in the cloud. The removal of archived data to the cloud of an established vendor such as Google, Amazon, or Microsoft makes sense. You can test a cloud scenario with PBS ContentLink free-of-charge.
