  ###SALUTATION_EN###

We hope that you have returned from your holidays feeling refreshed and revitalized. The PBS developers were busy in the meantime and have developed a new nearline solution for SAP BW running on SAP IQ that is highly compatible with the SAP’s own nearline solution and therefore simplifies considerably the migration of different BW platforms to SAP HANA. The solution was developed for customers who align their BW strategy very closely to the SAP standard.

We were also very pleased that PBS was once again included in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Structured Data Archiving and Application Retirement, and this time even as a challenger! You can also request the complete study from us free-of-charge. Furthermore, we have also put together the current folder for you on the topic of “Taming the Data Demon” that you can download free-of-charge in PDF format.

Last but not least, we would like to inform you that the PBS archive add ons are now also HANA compatible. New final releases are available to all PBS archive add on users from the 3rd quarter of 2015. The HANA-specific SAP transaction optimizations were also adapted for the PBS archive add ons. With the innovations described here you can fulfill the current requirements of modern Information Lifecycle Management.

We would be happy to meet you in person at the SAP TechEd in Las Vegas. You can find the PBS colleagues as usual at the booths of our partners Dolphin and Sigma.

Best regards from Bensheim

New NLS Solution for SAP BW under SAP IQ

Archiving also on non-Unicode!

PBS has developed a new nearline solution, CBW add on NLS IQ, running on the analytical database SAP IQ. It extends all previous solutions that use SAP IQ as the nearline database and exhibits a great degree of compatibility with SAP’s own nearline solution that was tailored especially to meet the requirements of SAP HANA customers. The add on can run on numerous classic BW platforms and also seamlessly on BW on HANA.

PBS renews in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Archiving and Application Retirement

Ascent from niche vendor to challenger

This year, PBS Software has climbed from the peak of the niche vendors to the peak of the challengers. Gartner's analysts predict an average yearly growth rate (CAGR) within the area of archiving of structured data and application retirement of 10 percent. Gartner’s analysts estimate that already 75 percent of applications for archiving structured data will support Big Data analyses by 2016.

Aligned and with a promising future

From ECC 6.17, Release 7.40, SAP customers can choose to run their ERP system on the SAP in-memory platform HANA. A consistent Information Lifecycle Management approach is also and particularly recommended in this case in order to keep the main memory as small as possible and keep the costs down.

PBS add-on Solutions optimize the SAP long-term Archiving

Our current folder clearly illustrates how PBS solutions can be used to tame the data daemon. The PBS archive add ons that have already proven themselves for 25 years are presented. They can be used to seamlessly access archived SAP data even after archiving has taken place. Their continuous further development now also guarantees use on SAP HANA for which the add ons have been especially adapted and meanwhile also certified.
